USTA Texas has made the following changes:

For 12s (ADV),  14s & 18s (beginner, Intermediate, and Advance divisions)

  • MINIMUM OF 6 players.  Team must have at least 4 players present to compete.
  • Recommend no more than 8 players per team (not limited, but to prevent anyone having to sit out, 8 is the max number of players that can play each weekend)
  • Teams will be CO-ED with a minimum of 3 boys & 3 girls on a team.
  • 4 singles will be played (2 boys singles and 2 girls singles), and 2 doubles will be played (1 boys doubles & 1 girls doubles)
  • In the event of a tie, 1 mixed doubles will play a 12 pts. tie-breaker (count as one game only)
  • Players may play a maximum of one singles, one doubles and a mixed doubles per dual match.
  • If a team has only 3 players, it must default the appropriate gender 2 singles line and appropriate gender doubles line.  If a team has only 2 players, it must default the appropriate gender 1 and 2 singles line and appropriate gender doubles line.
  • all Boys and all girl teams may be formed if needed to avoid default, however, those teams having only players of one gender will not be eligible for Section Championship.  Each individual match will count towards sectional eligibility and the players of the one gender team will be eligible, if needed, as a sub for another team for Sectionals.
  • We will play 6 game sets, no-ad, and tie-break at 5-5.  We can play more games if you think we need to make it longer.

12s (Beginners, Intermediate) and 10s (Green Dot Ball Intermediate division)

  • Teams are gender neutral – Teams may be comprised of boys or girls or any combination of boys and girls.  All matches are gender neutral.
  • Minimum of 5 players per team.  Team must have at least 4 players present to compete.
  • Recommend no more than 8 players per team.
  • Each match consists of 4 singles (in order of strength) and 2 doubles (in order of strength).
  • In the event of a tie, 1  doubles team will play a 12 pts. tie-breaker (count as one game only)
  • Players may play a maximum of one singles and one doubles per dual match.
  • If a team has only 3 players present, it must default line 4 singles and line 2 doubles.  If a team has only 2 players, it must default line 3 & 4 singles and line 2 doubles.
  • 10U Intermediate will play 2 out of 3 short set to 4 games, no-ad, tie-break at 3-3, 12pts. tie-break (first to 7, win by 2) for the 3rd set.
  • 12U divisions will play 1 short 6 games set, no-ad, tie-break at 5-5.
  • Players in the 10U green dot intermediate division may not be a champ qualified when they begin the season in order to be eligible for this division.

Here are a few scenarios that may pop up:

  1. For example, if Team A has all boys, playing Team B that has 2+2, and Team A is short a player, then it must default line 2 girl singles and girl doubles.
  2. If Team A has 3 boys + 1 girl, against Team B 2+2, and everyone shows up, then Team A must put the 1 girl in the line 1 girls singles and the 3rd boy will play line 2 girl singles.  If one of the boy on Team A doesn't show up, then Team A will default line 2 girl singles and the girl doubles.
  3. If Team A has all boy and Team B has all girls, then you make the line up based on skill and strength.
  4. If Team A has 3 boys + 1 girl, and Team B has 1 boys + 3 girls, then they must field their #1 boy and #1 girl, and the rest will play based on strength.
